My sister-in-law made these for a bridal shower she gave for me, and I have been making them in the 20 years since. Adding other things like bacon, sausage, spinach, or whatever to your stuffed mushrooms may be your thing, but you can't beat this recipe for simplicity. And I think the warm, melty cheese, and the tender, juicy mushrooms are good enough to stand on their own. You can make as many or as few of these as you wish. The amounts are just guidelines.

24 mushrooms (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Clean and remove the stems from small button mushrooms. (The big ones won't cook through before the cheese burns.).
  2. 2
Fill the cavity with cream cheese. Sprinkle the tops with garlic powder.
  3. 3
Broil until the cheese is melty and browned and the mushrooms cooked.
