My take on a really great burger served at Sanford's Grub and Pub in Casper, WY. The blue cheese sauce I refer to is posted in my recipes. This burger recipe is easily adjustable to taste in hotness and the strength of the cheese sauce. A real key to this recipe is not over cooking the burgers because of the quality of the meat. Other burger toppings are optional, but please take a bite before adding them. You might find out they are not necessary. My family really enjoys this one. Times do not include cooking bacon or preparing sauces.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground chuck or ground sirloin
  • 6 large hamburger buns
  • 9 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese sauce (see recipe)
  • 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce (your favorite)
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 kosher dill pickles
  • 6 thin slices sweet onions (optional)
  • 6 thin slices tomatoes (optional)

Directions

  1. 1
Form meat into 6 thick burgers and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. 2
Grill over medium heat. Do not over cook meat. Should be slightly pink and moist when done.
  3. 3
While burgers are cooking, slightly brown buns.
  4. 4
Place a burger on each bun.
  5. 5
Top each with hot sauce and blue cheese sauce to taste.
  6. 6
Add sliced onion and/or tomato - optional.
  7. 7
Place 1 and 1/2 slices of bacon on each and serve with a pickle on the side.
