We didn't send you a virus. Someone else did. Viruses sent through e-mail will disguise who sent the e-mail, making it look like it came from someone else in the address book of the person who is infected with the virus. This makes it very difficult to trace who actually has the virus.
back to topCookies are small pieces of information that web sites send to browsers, so that the browser can send this information back the site, for example, Recipezaar stores your user ID # in a cookie on your machine so we can know who you are without requiring you to sign in again when you visit later. They are harmless.
back to topJavaScript is a programming language for websites. Recipezaar uses JavaScript to display advertising, and to show the expanding/collapsing recipe Category List. JavaScript is very useful and very safe. We recommend you enable JavaScript for Recipezaar to work optimally.
back to topOur text size hasn't changed, but you have probably changed the default viewing size in your browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, pull down the View menu and select Text Size. We expect your setting to be Medium (the default) and have designed the site for this setting. You may have accidentally changed your setting which will make the text smaller or larger than normal.
If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse and you use Windows and Internet Explorer, it is very easy to accidentally change this setting. If you hold down the Control key on your keyboard and move the scroll wheel, the text size will change. Microsoft intended this to be a "feature", but it's commonly done accidentally.
You can enter the Recipezaar Chat Room using the link at the top of the Forums page. This will load a Java applet with the Chat controls — this takes a little while to load, please be patient. You will get a page where you should type in your nickname, no password is necessary.
There are many fun commands you can use in chat. By typing commands that start with "/" in the message field you can do fun stuff, e.g.
/nick IronChef
would change your nickname to "IronChef" If someone on the chat server is already using the name that you wish to use, the server will let you know and you will have to chose a different name as it only allows one person at a time to use that name.
If you prefer a chat program with a bigger screen, colors, music, comic mode and many other options then you may wish to download the Microsoft 2.5 chat program. One of the advantages to this chat program is that you never again have to wait for the java to load. After you have it installed, go to start/programs and look for Microsoft chat or Microsoft 2.5. For your chat server use: chat.annexcafe.com Select "Show all Chat rooms". You will get a list of all rooms; scroll down to find #Recipezaar_Chat and select it. When you get there, be sure to save the room to favorites which is at the top of your chat screen; this will make it easy to return to the room next time.
A big thanks to the folks at AnnexCafe who host this chat room for Recipezaar!
