This was my DH's Aunt Alice's recipe. She was a heath food advocate. This may be healthy...BUT it is also delicious! She's passed on to her reward with the Lord and I don't want to lose this recipe. I'm therefore posting it here not only so I will have it but also so others can enjoy it also. Although purchasing some of these ingredients are a bit pricey...it is still not only better than the manufactured packaged product but much cheaper. You may have to go to a health food store to get some of these dry ingredients. There are no other Granola recipes at Recipezaar with this combination of ingredients. NOTE***I have listed Barley flakes as Flakes Barley because that was the only way Recipezaar would accept it. For some reason their computer doesn't recognize that there is a product called Barley Flakes.

SERVES 10 -12 , 12 -14 cups (change servings and units)

Directions

  1. 1
Mix oil, honey, vanilla, and peanut butter together.

Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients, (flakes, seeds, nuts, coconut, & wheat germ).
  3. 3
    Mix well until evenly coated.
  4. 4
Pour mixture onto 2 large greased cookie sheets.
  5. 5
Bake 250 degrees for 30 minutes.
  6. 6
Stir well and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. 8
DO NOT BAKE with the fruits in the mixture or you will think you put rocks in your granola.
