Grandma Mac's Cinnamon Toast

Recipe #392091 | 5 min | 3 min prep

This recipe is different from the other cinnamon toast recipes that I have seen on this site. You start off making a brown sugar/cinnamon and butter mixture and then the toast is briefly broiled. From the Best of the Best from Ohio Cookbook.

SERVES 3 -6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a small mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk, cinnamon and salt. Spread entire top of lightly toasted bread with butter mixture. Place on a cookie sheet and broil briefly until mixture bubbles. (Watch carefully as these will burn quickly.) Cool slightly on a rack; cut into triangles, and serve warm for breakfast toast. Cover and refrigerate remaining butter mixture for future use.

This is SOOO good and I love the fact that I can have this anytime with the spread just waiting in the refrigerator. I made this for my daughter's sixteenth birthday breakfast, along with Black Forest Oatmeal (Chocolate Cherry) Does it get any better than that?

Wow! This was so good! I love the fact I can have the spread in the fridge just waiting for when I want a quick snack. Not too sweet - can taste the cinnamon, brings back memories of growing up. Thanks for sharing! Made for the Top Favorites of 2009 game.

What an amazingly simple and delicious breakfast treat! I cooked mine on a foil-lined cookie sheet for easy cleanup and was careful to spread the topping all the way to the edges of the bread so I wouldn't have any burned spots. I loved that this was made with brown sugar - tasted like a warm sweet and gooey cinnamon roll. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
