Glazed Spareribs & BBQ Beans

Recipe #390257 | 1½ hours | 30 min prep | add private note

This is a recipe I came across many years ago that I don't make very often but I definitely do not want to lose because it is delicious. This is a little more time consuming than I usually have time to deal with but it is worth it when I do have the time. I normally make my baked beans a different way but when I make these I have to use this recipe for beans because the flavors are so great with the ribs. Enjoy.

SERVES 6 , 1 rack of ribs (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lbs spareribs (1 rack)

Glaze

Beans

  • 32 ounces pork and beans
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup glaze (recipe above)

Directions

  1. 1
Fill a large pot of water with water and bring to a boil.
  2. 2
Add ribs and simmer until no longer pink, about 25 minutes.
  3. 3
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute onion in oil about 5 minutes.
  4. 4
    Add remaining glaze ingredients.
  5. 5
Bring to a boil and simmer over medium-low heat about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. 6
Meanwhile, fry bacon until cooked, but still limp, and set aside.
  7. 7
Drain off 1/3 cup of liquid from pork and beans.
  8. 8
Mix beans in a saucepan with bacon, brown sugar and 1 cup of glaze.
  9. 9
Simmer beans until ready to serve.
  10. 10
Drain ribs and brush with glaze on both sides.
  11. 11
    Place on broiler or grill.
  12. 12
Cook about 25 minutes, brushing with glaze and turning about every 5 minutes.
