Easy 10-Minute Graham Brittle

Recipe #360971 | 10 min | 5 min prep | add private note

I discovered this recipe this Christmas and have gotten rave reviews from everyone who has tried it. A whole baking sheet of this stuff seems like a lot but I guarantee you it will disappear! The brown sugar an butter combine to make an almost caramel-like taste. It's super easy and takes less than 10 minutes to make. Toppings are optional as this also tasted delicious plain. * for a lower fat version, use low-fat graham crackers and light margarine

Ingredients

optional toppings

Directions

  1. 1
First, preheat the oven to 350.
  2. 2
Then place graham crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet. Line them up so that they're touching on all sides, like a grid. (Make sure the baking sheet has sides on it.).
  3. 3
Bring brown sugar and butter to a boil in a saucepan.
  4. 4
Pour the brown sugar and butter mixture evenly over the graham crackers, coating each one evenly.
  5. 5
Put the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes.
  6. 6
Take the baking sheet out of the oven and evenly sprinkle the milk chocolate chips on top of the graham crackers. Let them melt for 30 sec-1 minute. Then spread them around to coat the graham crackers with chocolate.
  7. 7
Sprinkle on your desired topping or leave it plain! Crushed cereal not only tastes amazing but also uses up the crumbs in the bottom of the bag :).
  8. 8
Chill in the refrigerator until chocolate has hardened. To save time, you can also pop it in the freezer.
  9. 9
To serve, use your muscles and a metal flipper or pizza cutter to break it up into pieces.

We love these! There was a bit of disagreement about how many get coconut on them, but those went first anyway, so no problem. A little care is needed to spread the chocolate without messing up the toffee too much, but a rubber spatula worked. As easy as advertised but took a little longer. Made for Pick A Chef, April 2009.

Wow, this was really good! I just happened to be looking for a way to use up our graham crackers and coconut so this was perfect. It was incredibly easy and came out really tastey! I used cinnamon graham crackers and tried the coconut and peanuts for toppings. I also and added mini marshmellows to one of the squares to see how it would taste, (also good). I feel like there are endless possibilities for toppings- I will be making this again!!
