Want a little variation to your morning waffles? I throw a splash of vinegar in the milk in place of buttermilk. Recipe courtesy of Joe and Eugenia Nash Belden, America's Best Recipes.

    Combine cornmeal, flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.

    Stir well and set aside.

    Combine buttermilk, oil, and egg and stir well.

    Add to dry ingredients, stirring until blended.

    Bake in preheated oiled waffle iron.
