I tried this bread at a friend's house back in the day. I loved it and immediately asked her mom for the recipe! It is the only cornbread recipe I have used since then Great plain or with a little butter or honey!

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

    Preheat oven to 400°F.

    Grease well 8 or 9" pan pan.
  3. 3
    Combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt and mix well.

    Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and egg. Mix just until the dough is moistened.
  5. 5
    Pour the batter into the pan.
  6. 6
    Bake 20-25 minutes, or until golden-brown.
