We cant celebrate Gingerbread Day without talking about.........ginger! The spice ginger is the underground rhizome of the ginger plant, known botanically as Zingiber officinale. The plant's botanical name is thought to be derived from its Sanskrit name "singabera" which means "horn shaped," a physical characteristic that ginger reflects.

"Back by popular demand! the Topic of the Month forum or SEASONAL TOTM is here! We took a little breather and tried our hand at just seasonal topics, but there were just too many great topics, talented members wanting to contribute and fun ideas to limit this great forum to just what's in season.
We still want to celebrate seasonal foods and events but are going back to our monthly topic format where members can join in the fun by shaping this forum into whatever we want it to be!
Up first for the month of November, we'll be discussing Cosy Comforts along with other great threads.
Don't see a topic that you do want to see? Drop us a line and let us know! In the meantime we're happy to bring back a format so many of you missed and start celebrating some really great topics. Happy November!"

Bread Machine
Does your automatic bread machine gather dust? There are fab recipes to do more than simple bread if you use the dough cycle! How about some hot foccacia fresh from the oven? Yum! You'll find recipes for everything from sweet rolls to pizza dough in the database. There is always help to answer any baking question in the Breads & Baking Forum.

Happy Thanksgiving!

One Dish Wonders - Casseroles
One Dish Wonders! Just the thing for those colder Autumn and Winter Days, who can resist a bubbling casserole after a heavy day at work or the shops! Casseroles are easy and nutritious, they can be prepared ahead of time and are easy to pop in the oven whilst you are busy with other chores; plus, they can be as hearty and filling, or light and fresh as you require them to be, so they should cover all your families’ mid-week needs – or indeed busy weekend needs too! Breakfast casseroles are handy for busy working mums, and pasta casseroles and bakes are easily whipped up from store cupboard ingredients for last minute suppers.
