Everyone is welcome to join in. The only requirement for you to play this game is that you have at least 1 recipe of your own posted to Zaar. We would encourage you to post more recipes, since the game will be a lot more fun. If you need suggestions on where to find recipes to post, just let us know.
The basic concept of the game is that we have a list of recipes that players have asked to be reviewed, and they are on the
REQUEST LIST. You go to that list, and pick (tag) one or more of the recipes that you agree to make & review within 2 weeks. After you make & review a recipe and the review or picture is posted to the recipe, you then get to ask for someone to make one of your recipes.
The Detailed Rules:
1. First, find a recipe to tag.

To do this, look above the
REQUEST LIST on Page 1 and find the note indicating on what page The Safari Supper Club Host's last update has been posted, then go to that page of the thread and look at the update.

After the list of names, there will be a list of available recipes that can be tagged. Pick out a recipe that interests you, and then check all of the posts to the end of the thread to make sure no one else has already tagged that recipe. You may also find new requests after the last update, and you can tag those too if no one has already tagged them. Only one person can tag each request.

You may have as many tags as you like, as long as you are sure that you can make them before the 2 week deadline. However, please don't monopolize tagging to the point where other players do not get a chance to play.
2. Then, make each tagged recipe by the deadline.

Everyone gets 2 weeks to make & review each tagged recipe. If you find you can not meet that deadline, you need to post a request stating that you need an extension. Only one extension will be granted per recipe, and extensions should be requested BEFORE the tag is due.

You will have a 2-week grace period after your tag deadline (original or extension). If you do not make the recipe by that date, you will be placed on the RESTRICTED list.

Restricted players are still obligated to make the recipe, but they can't tag anything new or offer any of their own recipes until they have made & reviewed the overdue recipe even if they were eligible to post requests due to previously completed tags.
3. Last, you need to let us know that you completed your tag.

After you make your recipe, you need to review it.

In order to reduce the number of posts, please do not report back that you made your tagged recipe until the review or picture has posted.

As soon as either the review or a picture posts to the recipe publicly, you need to come back to the game thread and let us know that your review or picture has posted.

If you would prefer not to wait, you may also get credit for the review by posting a picture into the Please Review My Recipe thread. However, please make sure you have submitted your review before reporting back to the thread. If the review has not posted yet, you may post a picture to get green credit while you're waiting for the review to post. (Instructions on how to post photos to threads are available in the Photo Forum)
4. After you have completed your tag, you can offer up one of your own recipes to be added to the REQUEST LIST.

As a reward for reviewing another player’s recipe, you get to request one of your recipes to be reviewed. It can be any of your recipes regardless of whether it has zero reviews or many. Your recipe could be one with that doesn’t seem to be getting much attention from other members or it might be one that got a bad review and you want someone else to give it a try. Or, it might be one that the top review showing up isn’t so good, and you want it replaced with a newer review. It doesn’t matter why you want it reviewed. The choice is totally up to you.
You can even resubmit a recipe that was previously reviewed in this same game or is currently tagged as long as you have met the requirement of having reviewed someone else’s recipe.
Other Things You Need to Know:
Posting Format:
Recordkeeping for this game is a lot of work. So, all players need to use the following format for EVERY mention of a recipe. The recipe owners name should appear first, and then the recipe name as a link followed by the number retyped as text.
You do not need to actually type the recipe name....just type the word recipe followed by the recipe number twice. It will turn into a link that gives the recipe name. The proper format is below, replacing the recipe number for the x’s:
Lucid501's Recipe #xxxxx, #xxxxx
Do NOT use the button marked ‘Recipe’ in the post screen above the text you are writing, because it does not work correctly.
Mistags:
If you find that you can't make a recipe that you tagged because of lack of ingredients or special circumstances, please z-mail Safari Supper Club Hosts and we'll discuss it. Under most circumstances we will be very understanding IF you let us know before the 2 week deadline is up. If you wait until you are in the grace period or have asked for an extension, and then decide you can't make it, we'll probably only allow a mistag under extreme circumstances...since you had plenty of time to let us know...and you've been keeping the recipe poster waiting which isn't playing nicely.
If a mistag is allowed, then you will be removed of the obligation to make the recipe and it will go back on the request list.
Substituting Ingredients in your Tagged Recipes:
You are allowed to modify the recipe, changing ingredients or cooking methods as you choose. We do recommend that you check with the recipe owner if you are making
substantial changes to the recipe to make sure that it is OK with them. Whenever possible, you should z-mail these questions to the recipe owner rather than posting them in the thread. If you do make substantial changes to a recipe and it does not turn out to your liking, we encourage you to add only a comment in your review and to rate it with no stars, since there is no way of knowing if the recipe didn’t work due to your changes.
Switching the Recipe you Requested:
Once you have posted a recipe request, you may not switch the recipe unless it remains on the REQUEST LIST for one week. After one week, any recipe that is still on the list will automatically be removed by a game host during the next update and a green credit will be added to the requester's name.
If the requester wants to give it one more week, they can resubmit it as a new request. Or, they can submit a new recipe instead, or even wait a few weeks and try again (since seasonal issues, players and menu needs change regularily).
This will make sure the REQUEST LIST stays fresh and will give your recipe a better chance of getting tagged.
Restricted Player’s Tagged Recipes:
When a player is placed on the restricted list for not completing a tag on time, the tagged recipe will be returned to the request list so another player can tag it. However, the restricted player is
still obligated to make & review the recipe in order to be removed from the restricted player list.
Chit-Chat:
Please keep chit-chat to a minimum. Comments should be focused on the recipes.
Page 1 Lists:
Immediately following the rules of this game, there are several lists on page 1 of this thread.

REQUEST LIST – This is the complete list of all recipes that are eligible to be tagged since the last update by Sam #3, Sydney Mike or Noo.

TAGGED LIST – This is a list of all of the recipes that have been tagged and still need to be completed.

TAG PLAYERS – The player list is color coded and also shows how many tags a player still has to complete. Players who are not currently eligible to post any additional recipes to the request list will be
RED, and players who are eligible to post recipes to the request list will be
GREEN. The number of recipes that players can post will be noted in parenthesis after their name along with one smiley

for each tagged recipe.

RESTRICTED PLAYERS – Try to avoid getting added to this list!

LIST OF REVIEWED RECIPES - This is a list of recipes that have been completed within the last 2 weeks or so, links to recipes that were completed earlier in the game, and links to cookbooks that show all of the recipes that were reviewed for the game.
Playing Fairly: A Note on the spirit of the game
There are some things that should be avoided, in order to reduce the potential for confusion, hurt feelings or unfair game play:
*
Requesting that certain recipes be added to the request list by other players--whether specific recipes or certain types such as "more soups", "less desserts" etc. The recipe owner may request any recipe of theirs that he or she sees fit, at any time--provided they have the green credits to do so.
*
"holding" a recipe for someone. If multiple players expressed interest in your recipe, and you'd like to offer if again so that they may tag it--provided you have the green credits--that is perfectly fine. However, saying "I will offer this up again so that Player XXXX may tag it" is not allowed. This could lead to Player XXXX feeling obligated to tag it when perhaps they no longer want to, or it could prevent some other player from tagging the recipe because it is "reserved" for Player XXXX.
*
changing the recipe you have requested because someone showed an interest in a different one. As much as this is the recipe owner's game and the intent is to satisfy their needs, the rules clearly state that once a recipe is requested, it stays on the list for 7 days. At the end of the 7 days, if the recipe is still on the request list, it will be removed during the next update and the requesting player will be given an extra green credit to compensate for this. If the player then desires to request the same recipe again, or try a different recipe, they may do so.
To get started, now go to the end of the thread and go find a recipe to tag!!!
