Bargain Basement - August 2009

Hi, I am susie cooks and I am the new host of the Bargain Basement Game. The instruction have been updated. Let's have fun and discover some great recipes!


Welcome to the NEW REVISED Bargain Basement Game! This game is similar to Tag, but instead focuses on recipes with lower ratings or unreviewed OLDER recipes.

(Recipes need to be either reviewed with a rating of 3 stars or under or those recipes which have been posted over 2 years or more and still unreviewed.) These potentially great recipes have been "marked down" - either they have a flaw that needs tweaking, been overlooked, or they are seemingly good recipes that maybe deserve a second chance.


How to Play:

1) Choose ANY recipe with a rating of 3 STARS OR UNDER or an UNREVIEWED recipe that was posted OVER 2 YEARS AGO.

2) Post a reply to this thread saying which recipe you are
preparing. Please include the recipe ID number and name.

3) Make it within 2 weeks.

4) Post your review and report back to this thread including any helpful information.

(The recipe might not turn out well after all, but at least you can provide a helpful review with suggestions to improve it - or it may turn out to be a real gem!)


UPDATED AS OF August 2007

How to find lower rated recipes:

1. Click on "Recipes" at the top of the Home Page.
2. Choose a category you are interested in. If the result is a large number of recipes, you can narrow further using additional categories.
3. Click on SORT BY "rating" at the top of the page
4. Go to the last page and work your way backward until you find a page that has some recipes with 3 or less total stars.

You can choose any recipe you like, it is up to you. As long as the recipe has a cumulative review total of 3 stars or less, then it is eligible for this game - even if someone has already selected it previously.
Once a recipe has 4 stars (cumulative total), then it is no longer eligible for this game.
Try to select recipes that, despite the lower rating, appeal to you and that you think someone would enjoy making.

NOTE: Just because a recipe has a low rating, doesn't mean the rating was unmerited. The point here is not to criticize a review, but to promote a recipe that may be getting overlooked due to one person's experience with it.
