Pick a Chef is a fun experience, but it may seem like chaos when you first start. There is always someone willing to help, but here is a short primer to get you started.
There are several threads to watch during PAC.
~The
PAC Main Thread is where all of the action is. All adoption requests, recipe tags, & notices when you post your reviews will be handled in the Main thread. It is also our "chat" corner. Do plan to play with us here and post often. It is a wonderful chance to get to know zaar members and make some friends.
*Each chef request should look like this:*
Susie D #131126 seasoned chef
would like to adopt
Chef #xxxxxx #xxxxxxx undiscovered chef
~The
PAC Adoption Center is designed to make it easy to see the status of chefs during PAC. It has the lists of choices for chefs (the Pick Me Lists) and the list of all chefs already adopted. We
never run out of chefs for you to consider. The Adoption Center is also the home of the Preemie Care Center (PCC) where we adopt preemies.
(Note to all of those who search for chefs on their own: Several big changes are in store for preemie adoptions this fall. All preemies eligible to be adopted will either sign up here or have been selected by a PAC Host. No other preemies are eligible for adoption. )There is no posting in the Adoption Center thread.
~The
Facts & Figures is our thread for record keeping. All adoptions, recipe selections, and completed committments are posted here for easy viewing. We have assigned PAC hosts working on this page and it is updated daily. Please do give them a chance though as there is lots to do to keep this page current. If your information doesn't appear on pg 1 please check the pg 2 workspaces. There is no posting in the Facts & Figures thread.
Recipe selections & completions should be posted as
Chef #xxxxxxx #xxxxxxxx
RECIPE #yyyyyyyy #yyyyyyyy
~Check the
Crocodile Rock thread for approval/ rejection of your adoption requests on Opening Weekend. The list will be broken by pg #'s, so if you posted on pg 3 your request will be in that group. This thread will only be in use *opening weekend.* There should be no posts except by hosts.
On opening weekend please plan to be patient!
It is crazy busy & we work as fast as we can. However, it does take a while for everything to show up. We hope you jump in & play, but there are always chefs to adopt so playing the first day is not required.
Pick A Chef is a chance to discover new chefs, recipes, and “get to know” other chefs on Zaar and a truly
fun event. By adopting a chef, you are agreeing to make & review at least
three of his/her recipes by the event deadline. You make the recipes & submit your reviews any time before the Oct 4th deadline. There are a few rules on how the selections work, but PAC is
very easy to play. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have here or zmail any PAC host. We will be more than happy to help you! Detailed rules are on the PAC page here:
Pick A Chef Host
Look at your About Me Page & the criteria below.
Decide which of the following category you fall into. (If you need help just ask. )

(You will using your member number often so keep it nearby.)
Here is where you can find the chef number, your join date, number of reviews, and posted recipes on your page:
On opening weekend please plan to be patient! It truly is
a race for babies!
If you are new to Pick A Chef you might prefer to watch a bit on opening morning before jumping in. There will again be a limit of no more than three requests per post on opening day.
