Hello and WELCOME to Photo Tag!
Your hosts here are Annacia and lazyme
The current and archived cookbooks for Photo Tag:
Photo Tag Cookbook
This is a recipe tag game that is specifically designed for posting pictures to recipes that do
not currently have photos. We think that most of us really enjoy seeing photos on recipes and this is a great way to get them on your own recipes as well as other chefs! Before some of you jump to another screen, this game is not about camera skills or magazine quality photos. A lot of us are still learning - please don’t be shy or afraid to play. Jump in, give it your best shot (pun intended), and have fun with us!!
In order to play Photo Tag you must be a Recipezaar member, have access to a camera, be able to post your photo to a recipe within 2 weeks, and have and maintain a minimum of 10 recipes that do not have photographs. If you aren't already a member of Recipezaar, please go to the HOME PAGE and join!
If you don't have access to a camera to join us, we suggest that you take a look at playing The All New Newest Zaar Tag! ,
1-2-3 Hit Wonders 2007 ,
Zaar Holiday Tag Game - Continued,
NEW THREAD!! * Please Review My Recipe tag game!!*, or the tag game of the month found in the
Beverages & Cooking with Spirits Forum, all of which do not require access to a camera.
You may join the game at any time...please read the instructions on this page before making your first tag, and then you may jump to the last page to start playing.
SHORT VERSION
1. Find out who is IT.
2. Tag an unphotographed recipe from the chef who is IT.
3. Make, photograph and review that recipe within two weeks from the date of your tag.
4. Report back to this thread to tell us that you've completed your tag so we can update the Master Status List and add the recipe to the Photo Tag cookbook.
Detailed Rules of Play:
STEP ONE: Find out who is IT and tag a recipe
Someone will be
IT. To find out who is IT, jump to the last page of this thread and look through the posts - usually whoever is currently IT will be named and it will say "Chef such-and-such is IT."
To play, click on the blue arrow next to the Zaar name of the chef who’s IT and select “My Recipes.” Find a recipe in the recipe list or cookbook that you would like to make that
HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED. The recipe can have any number of reviews for this game. Make a note of the chef’s name, recipe name and recipe ID number.
Come back to the Photo Tag thread and check the Master Status List of Tagged Recipes on page 1 to see if the recipe you selected has already been tagged. If the recipe has been tagged, then you will need to select a different recipe from the chef who is IT. If the recipe has not been tagged already, then post a reply to this thread to say that you have tagged a chef and recipe. Provide the name of the chef, recipe name and the recipe ID number.
Please use the following format for EVERY mention of a recipe: chefs name.......recipe name (in link format).....recipe #."
The recipe name should appear first as a link followed by the recipe ID number retyped as text. The proper format is below, replacing the recipe number for the x’s:
Recipe #xxxxx, #xxxxx
Do NOT use the button marked ‘Recipe’ in the post screen above the text you are writing. It does not work correctly.
As long as someone else hasn’t already tagged a recipe by the chef who is IT, then you will now become IT and the next person who wants to play will tag one of your unphotographed recipes to try.
STEP TWO: Try the recipe, take a photograph and report back to us
Once you have tagged a recipe successfully, you have agreed to prepare, photograph, post the photograph to the recipe, and review the recipe within two weeks from the date you tagged it. It’s always nice to include ‘Made for Photo Tag' somewhere in your review so that others will know that it was made while playing this game. Once you have completed your tag, please report back to the thread to let us know the status. Although it is a requirement to post the photo to the recipe, it is not a requirement to post it to the thread. However, we'd love to see your photo in the thread too!
Please use the format stated above for reporting a completed tag.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How do I find out who is "IT?"
Go to the final page of this thread - find the most recent message declaring who is currently IT.
What type of recipe can I tag?
Any unphotographed recipe from the chef who is currently IT and has not already been tagged for this game can be tagged. The number of reviews the recipe has is not relevant here.
I tagged a recipe, but changed my mind - can I pick a different recipe?
Make a SUBSTITUTION. Yes - sometimes you tag a recipe and then later realize that you just won't be able to make it - either you are having significant ingredient issues or just don't have time for that particular recipe.
Please select a different recipe from the same chef that you originally tagged - it still must be an unphotographed recipe. Then post a message to this thread asking for a substitution, using the standard recipe format above.
Be aware that your substitution will still be due on the due date of the original tag.
I tagged a recipe, but can't meet the two week deadline. What do I do?
Request an EXTENSION. If you are unable to make one of the recipes you have tagged, you can post a message in the thread requesting an extension. ANY reason qualifies for an extension - you couldn't find an ingredient, family matters, too much work to do, etc. No explanation is needed, but please let us know that you need to postpone the recipe deadline. Extensions are granted for 10 days without question but cannot be granted once the due date has passed. If you need more time than that, please z-mail the Photo Tag game hosts, either Annacia or lazyme. Your name and tag will now be moved to the Extensions Granted List.
What if I miss the deadline, but I don't want to request either an extension or a substitution? I just don't want to play anymore.
We really hope that this won't happen, but if you really won't be able to make a recipe you've tagged and you really don't want to extend or substitute, then please let us know that you want out of your tag so we can "un-tag" the recipe so someone else can tag it. If you miss a deadline and don't choose an extension or substitution, you will be placed on the Restricted List.
What happens to overdue tags?
Your name and overdue tag will be moved from the Master Status List to another list depending on how late your tag is. If you requested an extension before the original due date, you will be moved to the Extensions Granted List for 10 days and will not be considered late.
What is the Don’t be blue, your tag’s overdue list?
Tags that are late and an extension was not requested are placed on the
Overdue and oh so Blue list. You can easily avoid this by requesting an extension before the original due date. The tag will be shown on this list for 10 days. If the tag is not completed in this time frame, then it will be moved to the (
RESTRICTED) list.
What is the RESTRICTED list?
Your name will be moved here if you have been on the
BLUE list for 10 days.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY AGAIN UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE TAG AND CLEARED YOUR NAME! This will be strictly enforced and the tagged recipes will be released to be tagged in the regular game.
*NOTE: Effective as of Aug 24, 2007, anyone who is Restricted in a game will not be allowed to play in the Game Room until all outstanding tags are completed. Please see this letter from the Forum Hosts;
http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=222552
What happens if several people in a row tag the same chef?
This is all part of the fun of the game - you need to be quick and tag a chef’s recipe before someone else does. The first chef to post a tag message in the thread wins the tag and becomes IT.
Can I claim "first dibs" on a player who is IT?
No - dibs are not allowed. If you really want to tag a particular chef, you need to be the first one to tag with a specific recipe. You can't say "Oh! I want to tag Jane. I am IT!" You must first have a recipe selected: "Oh! I want to tag Jane's Meatloaf ID#12345. I am IT!"
I thought that I had successfully tagged a recipe, but when I came back to check in, I found out that my tag was declared invalid or a ‘mistag’. What does this mean?
A tag can be declared invalid or a ‘mistag’ if:
You mistakenly tagged a recipe that had already been tagged in this game.
You mistakenly tagged a recipe that already had a photo.
You mistakenly tagged a recipe from a chef who was not IT at the time.
If a mistag is declared before someone else tags you, your tag is invalid, you are no longer IT, and you do not need to do anything else.
If a mistag is declared after someone has tagged you so that you are no longer IT, then you will need to choose an eligible recipe from the chef who was IT at the time of the mistag. This is called a re-tag. Please post a message to the thread stating that you are re-tagging - in the standard format. You do not become IT again on a re-tag.
Sometimes a player ahead of you mistags, affecting your tag as well as any subsequent tags before the original mistag has been found. In such cases, we try our best to preserve as many of the tags in the affected chain as we can. We will ask the chef who initially mistagged to re-tag another recipe. Please do not continue to tag until this situation has been rectified. If you still would like to prepare the recipe you mistagged anyway, go ahead and make it, but it will not count as a tag in this game.
What is a Pinch-Hit?
A Pinch-Hit is an emergency step used to correct a series of mistags that have occurred in a row (see above). Usually this happens when a chef who had been IT was accidentally overlooked and one of their recipes was never tagged. We may ask for a volunteer to become a Pinch-Hitter by selecting and preparing a recipe from the overlooked chef. The Pinch-Hitter will NOT become IT for this missing tag, and would agree to meet the two-week deadline. Although we prefer that the Pinch-Hitter pick an unphotographed recipe, a recipe selected for a Pinch-Hit can be any recipe from the overlooked chef - even if it has already been photographed or tagged.
I already tagged a recipe this week, but can I still tag additional recipes?
Absolutely - sometimes you may want to tag recipes for a whole menu or for your meal plan. There is no limit to the number of times you can tag in Photo Tag as long as you can meet the deadlines for preparing, photographing and reviewing the recipes that you have tagged. We do ask, however, that you do not monopolize the game with constant tagging in a short timeframe – we would like everyone to be able to play and have fun.
I tagged a recipe and have already made and reviewed it before the deadline. Can I tag another recipe?
Yes - see the above question.
What if a chef has lots of recipes posted, but there aren't many unphotographed ones left to choose from?
In order to keep the game running smoothly, we require that each chef have a minimum of 10 unphotographed recipes available for tagging. Any time a chef falls below the 10eligible recipes, they must post more recipes before they can continue to play.
I tagged a recipe but I can't remember what the due date is!
No problem - simply take a look at the Master Status List on page 1 where all tagged recipes will be listed, including the dates they are due. Anytime the status changes on a recipe, the host will update the Master Status List to reflect the change.
But the Master Status List is sooo long. How can I find the recipe I am looking for?
Go to the beginning of the Master Status List and press the CONTROL key and while still holding it down, press the letter "F" - a search window will pop up where you can type in the recipe name or your name and it will find that text for you.
I made a recipe that I had successfully tagged, but when I went to post a review and photograph, I noticed that someone else had recently added a photograph to the recipe. Does this mean I need to re-tag?
No - this can and will happen at times. As long as the recipe was a valid tag (unphotographed and untagged)
at the time you tagged it, then it is still a valid tag for this game. You do not need to re-tag.
I successfully tagged a recipe, but I have been informed that it is a duplicate recipe that is no longer attributed to the chef that I tagged. Does this mean that this tag is invalid or a mistag?
No - this does not invalidate your tag. You may either choose to make the recipe that you initially tagged, or as a generous gesture to the chef, you may substitute a recipe by the same chef. Please post your decision on the thread.
One of my recipes that has been tagged has now been ruled a duplicate.
What do I do? Please let the tagging chef know so that he or she can decide whether or not to substitute the recipe. There is no requirement that the tagging chef re-tag but there is nothing wrong with asking if he or she would be willing to do so. You are not IT if you re-tag a recipe.
How do I post a picture to the Photo Tag thread?
When you report back to the thread that you have completed a tag, you may want to post your photo in the thread. This is not a requirement,
but we’d love to see your photos! . If you would like to share your photo but don’t know how, you can get the instructions by clicking here (and scrolling down to Derf's May 30th post that says at the top: "FROM CHUCK IN KILLBUCK." Then--within the message--scroll down to where it says: "How to post pictures in forum threads."
Please do not post more than 2 photos for any recipe in this thread .
If you would like comments or help with your pictures, please post your photos in the
Photo Forum and ask your questions there. They are a great group of people and have the expertise to help you!

New rule starting Dec. 01, 2007:
In playing this game, you are implicitly agreeing to accept the necessity of a re-tag if you make a mistake and tag a recipe that is not eligible, or if you tag a recipe and then find you can't make it for any reason, or if you tag the wrong chef. This means that, for example, if by mistake you choose a recipe that has reviews, you agree to go ahead and choose another recipe by the same chef to replace the tag that is invalid. Another example: if you choose a recipe by Chef A when Chef B was the one who was currently due to be tagged, you agree to go back and choose a recipe by Chef B to replace your tag of Chef A. Also, if you choose a recipe that has already been tagged, you agree to go back and re-select a recipe by the chef you tagged.
This keeps the game from coming to a halt while people wait to see what happens. In addition, if the mistake is not caught before follow-up tags occur, the re-tag rule helps avoid a snarl where a string of people could find their tags invalidated because 1 person drops the ball in the middle of the process.
Exception: If you make a goof in your tag but correct or withdraw it before anybody else follows up by tagging you, then your tag is simply ignored and does not count as a mistag. Be aware, however, that other players are not required to wait around and see whether you're going to do this; at any time, if you haven't withdrawn, they can go ahead and tag you, because they know you have implicitly agreed to re-tag.)
