While in Zurich, she stays at the wonderful ____________. It is only 12 kilometres from the airport so it only takes her 20 minutes to get there. Once there, she has her choice of 137 guestrooms. And for a change of pace, she can go enjoy ____________. It is located in the cellar and offers authentic Chinese cooking. Either way, she is a happy girl as she lives it up in this 4 star hotel.
She decides to stay for 2 nights to help beat the jet lag and get accustomed to her new surroundings. Since she still only has US money, how much did she have to pay (in USD)? ____________
After leaving Zurich, her first stop is ____________. Here she decides to take in a bit of history. She heads to the ____________, the oldest standing private house in this beautiful city. She wonders at the architecture, the paintings, the engravings and the photographs. It cost her $3.00 CHF to get in. She STILL hasn’t converted her US Dollars over to the Franc. What did she have to pay to get in (in USD)? ____________
Before she leaves this time though, she decides to convert her money over to CHF. She goes to the bank to convert her money. She converts $1000 USD over to CHF. How much does she get? ____________
What denomination of money would she get that in? (There are many possibilities. Try for the smallest number of coins/bills.) ____________
She finds herself in the ____________, the second largest of all Swiss cantons. The whole area in the south is very mountainous, with steep cliffs, many glaciers, and countless waterfalls. Wanting to further herself intellectually, she travels to the ____________ where the fateful scene of Sherlock Holmes' 'death' at the hands of ____________ took place.
She finally heads to the Canton of ____________, her father’s home Canton. He lived in a little town on the North East side of the Canton called Au. It is a fair sized town with a population of ____________. She manages to track down a bunch of relatives and spends the rest of her time in Switzerland surrounded by her newly found loved ones. While in Au, she learns to make some traditional Swiss dishes that her father grew up on.
Name 3 dishes on Zaar that she would have learned to make. You do NOT have to make them. Simply name them and include the recipe numbers.
She ate many meals at her new home away from home. Dinner time was a special time as it would bring the family closer together. They would sit around the table and share stories of days gone by. Using the Menu feature on Zaar, create a full Swiss meal. Don’t forget appetizers and beverages! (You may include ONE of the recipes that you mentioned in the last question.)

This is a TEAM REP challenge. Since this challenge has to do with banking, I think it is only fitting that the team scorekeepers complete it.
For this challenge only, the scorekeepers are to send in answers. *** If the score keeper submitted the answers for the last Team Rep challenge, then someone else will have to complete it.
Since you will be staying in Switzerland for quite a while, you decide to open a Swiss bank account. When you open a new account, you receive a lovely little gift as their way of saying Thank You.
There are lots of different banks in Switzerland. It is hard to pick which one you want to deal with. So it finally comes down to which bank has the cutest tellers. So the choice is now these three:
~Anker Bank
~Credit Suisse
~Merrill Lynch Capital Markets
What bank do you chose to open your account in?

- you get a great casserole dish

- you get a microwave

- you get a slow cooker
(You can open an account in only
ONE bank)
As soon as you get your new piece of kitchen EQUIPMENT, you get all excited because you can now make that SWISS dish that you have been dreaming about…
On your way home, you have to stop and pick up a couple of items that you are missing for your recipe. The grocery store is one of those fantastic one stop shops. You can get everything your heart desires in there.

If you received the CASSEROLE, you need to pick up: Ham and garlic.

If you received the CROCK POT, you need to pick up: Round steak and Worcestershire sauce

If you received the MICROWAVE, you need to pick up: white wine and flour.
Name the recipe that you are looking forward to making.
Send your selected bank and your recipe to
Susie D.

Are You Up to It? Team challenge- (possible 20 points)
Guess what? It is mountain climbing time! Your team will spend this weekend climbing the Swiss mountain of your choice. Shake off those fuzzy brains and get ready for your outdoor adventure.
A few simple rules are in place. Each team member will have an identical backpack of 20 items to take with your team and 10 items to be shared by the team. These will be the
only supplies your team can carry. You have to carry everything yourself…..no porters, no pretty mountain boys, no animals; just you, your team & the mountain so think lightweight. You will spend 3 nights and 4 days on the mountain.
What to do:
1) Select your mountain. We will be climbing in
winter.
2) Plan your supplies. Nothing can be used
other than basic clothing if it is not on this list!
One set of basic thermal clothes (that you are wearing) does not count as part of the 20 identical or 10 shared items. However, if you want more than say one set of longjohns, one pair of pants, one shirt, one set of socks, boots, one knit hat, one pair of gloves, and one coat you must have it on the list.
3) Keep a team diary or scrapbook to share with us.
Post your supply list & diary here:
http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=200224
How to score points:
I submitted a list to Bergy & Saturn with 20 words or phrases having to do with winter climbing. For every word your team uses in your
diary/ scrapbook you will score a point.
Have fun my shivering beauties.
I am going to go ahead and extend the deadline for this challenge until Monday (11:59pm zaar time). Tuesday will be a Team Rep challenge. Wednesday will be a Team Rep Challenge. Maybe this will give everyone a chance to catch their breath.

Watch This! (team rep-1 point per correct answer- 5 possible)
Although Switzerland is nowadays so closely associated with watches, it was not always so. A slow beginning was followed by a gradual rise to dominance, succeeded by what threatened to be a catastrophic decline, before a dramatic turnaround at the end of the 20th century.
1) Name the 5 pioneer nations in clock and watch development. (hint: not Switzerland

)
2) Name the Swiss craftsman who is credited as “the greatest watchmaker of all time.” He invented or developed a number of important additions to watch design, including the tourbillon (a device which enables the gear train to function smoothly irrespective of gravity).
3) When did wristwatches become popular?

4) Who designed the millionometre? What is it?
5) Which brand was the first to offer a water resistant watch? When?
