Baby Oatmeal

Recipe #398074 | 4 min | 2 min prep | add private note

By: StayAtHomeLumberJack
Nov 6, 2009

This is a way cheaper alternative to buying the oatmeal from the baby food aisle, and adding the powdered infant formula makes it iron fortified.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Process oatmeal in a coffee bean grinder or food processor for 15-30 seconds. It should be mostly powder with a few specks still showing.
  2. 2
In a medium saucepan, boil water.
  3. 3
    Whisk in oatmeal and formula.
  4. 4
Cook over medium heat for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
  5. 5
Let cool to lukewarm before giving to baby.
  6. 6
Note: You can buy old fashioned oatmeal; you'll just need to cook it longer.
