Recipezaar is accepting resumes for the following open positions:

Web Designer

Responsibilities: Create graphic design mock-ups of pages and translate those into HTML and CSS. You will work with a small team who will help define the requirements and basic user interactions. You will have a lot of freedom to artistically render the fuctionality in clear, elegant graphic design. The best candidate will be able to take their own Photoshop mockups and create standards-based HTML/CSS. Hand-edited HTML is required, if you only can manage it in WYSIWIG apps like Dreamweaver don't apply. Recipezaar is full-featured web application and a top 5 cooking site with more than 5 million visitors per month. You will have a tremendous amount of impact and a large domain of responsbility; we only want someone that is up for that kind of challenge, and is genuinely excited about the problem space. We don't want someone who just makes things look pretty (although that is important); the critical function is to design an excellent user interface that will simply and elegantly meet user needs.

Qualifications: This position requires significant experience in designing interactive web applications for consumers (not just brochure sites!). Specifics:

• Associate or Bachelor degree in graphic design, interactive media design or related discipline
• 3+ years experience in web design
• Excellent Photoshop skills
• In-depth experience writing HTML and CSS preferred, but working knowledge of their abilities and limitations required

All will be self-motivated, priority-driven individuals able to work unsupervised in a telecommuting environment. They will demonstrate exceptional customer-focus and be confident clear communicators and writers, who love to brainstorm creative solutions with small teams as well as work on their own.

Position Specifics: The Web Designer will work full-time as an independent contractor remotely, out of their own office or home office. Designer will generally set their own hours. Compensation will be competitive, but depends on experience.

Software Developer

Responsibilities: Write code.

Qualifications: Recipezaar is looking for a self-starting, well-organized software developer with 3+ years of experience in software development. We'd like someone with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, 2+ years experience with PHP and SQL (preferably MySQL), Ajax technologies (DHTML, XML/XSL, Javascript) and an interest in hardware and networking. You don't have to be an expert on Apache, but should be willing to become knowledgeable about it. If you don't know what Apache is, forget it. If you know C, you probably understand what happens behind the higher-level scripting languages of the web. That's important. If you know C++, you understand OO principles. If you love C++, you'll fit in.

Position Specifics: The Developer will work full-time as an independent contractor remotely, out of their own office or home office anywhere in the United States. They will generally set their own hours. Compensation will depend on qualifications.
