I'm giving this a 4 only because I made 2 changes. I only used 3/4 ounce of the vodka and sake because of CraftScouts review and I don't like too strong of drinks. But when I make this again I'll use 1 ounce each and see if I can handle the full 1 1/2 ounce each at a later date. I made this for ZWT4 2008 game for the Family Pick Round I'm on the team Tastebud Tickling Travellers

I tried this out, thinking it might taste sweet (like a Screwdriver, which I like), but it doesn't. I'm not a martini drinker, so I'm not going to give it a bad rating just because I don't like it. But, I'm going to recommend to others who might want to try this out, use a higher quality sake. I have 2 kinds of sake at my house: really cheap that I use for cooking and slightly less cheap that tastes okay when warm, but like rocket fuel out of the bottle. Consequently this drink tasted like rocket fuel for me!

My friends and family members in Japan know how much I like very good quality sake and shochu. People in US know I like wine and microbrews. What they don't know except my husband, is I like cocktails just as much when it's done right with good ingredients. I'm very picky about my sake and love sake tasting just as much as wine tasting. Hard to find good quality sake in the US though and when I do, I am grateful. I used Kurosawa gingo junmai Kimoto from Kurosawa Brewing Company http://www.kurosawa.biz/eng.htm and this is a first time I used sake in cocktail - I usually drink my sake straight, always chilled when good quality. I LOVED this drink - not too sweet (normally, I don't like sweet) and not too strong (great for my husband and some friends). It is something I will be making often Amanda. Thank you so much for sharing your beverage recipes with us - hoping to trying one by one.
