I used a combo of lean ground beef and ground moose, 1.5 tbsp reg chili and 1.5 tbsp mexican chili. I had no tomato paste so used more tomato sauce. We found it to be on the spicy side but unfortunately the party guests will not have their say as we ate it all!!

This chili was great! I made this for the Superbowl and the whole family loved it. I love thick chili and this definitely filled my craving. I added a little more chili powder then said. Thank you!

Excellent easy chili recipe. I made a few modifications to suit our tastes. I used petite-diced tomatoes with green chiles and added a can of chili beans to the mix. I also rinsed my kidney beans to reduce the sodium content, and added some water to make up for the lost liquid. I increased the cumin to up the smokey flavor and really liked that balance. This was part of a simple Christmas Eve dinner with family. Thanks for posting.

This recipe is virtually identical to one we've been using for many years apart from the cumin - good idea! We serve it in a pitta bread with side orders of diced cucumber soaked in balsamic vinegar and a dollop of creme fraiche or soured cream.
