Walt's Teriyaki Marinade and Dipping Sauce

Recipe #15773 | 8 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Winnipeg Walt
Dec 14, 2001

This is an old way of making a teriyaki sauce with honey instead of sugar, giving it a more pleasing sweetness. It's great for marinading and dipping with any kind of meat dish.

1 cup (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Blend ginger, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and onion in a bowl.
  2. 2
Add meat to marinade for at least one hour or refrigerate meat in marinade overnight.
  3. 3
After marinating meat, drain the marinade and add it to a 1/2 cup of water.
  4. 4
Bring it to a boil for 3-5 minutes and use it for a meat dipping sauce during the meal.
  5. 5
Excellent for pork, beef or chicken.

We marinaded chicken tenders in this and then grilled them. I used the remainder to baste some pineapple rings before grilling them as well. Yummy!

This was very good. I put it in the crockpot with some chicken thighs. They got a wonderful brown color and I thickened the sauce with cornstarch. This was so good my husband wanted to eat all four servings at ounce. Thanks!

Very easy to make. I didn't marinate any meat in it, instead I thickened it with cold water and corn starch to use with meatballs. Really yummy flavour, must be the honey instead of sugar! Definitely will be using again instead of storebought. Thanks for the recipe!
