Venison Steak Marinade

Recipe #119158 | 4¼ hours | 15 min prep | add private note

By: JustJan
Apr 26, 2005

This is the only steak my family will eat. They do not even like NY strip any more. We have our meat processor cut our venison steaks to about 1 inch thick, then I marinate and grill to medium rare. Better than beef and better for you too! Our traditional family Christmas Eve dinner menu is always venison steak and shrimp scampi!

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix all marinade ingredients together in a small measuring cup.
  2. 2
Place venison steaks in a large zip lock bag.
  3. 3
Pour marinade over steaks and seal bag.
  4. 4
Place bag in a flat casserole dish so that the steaks are in a single layer.
  5. 5
Refrigerate and marinate at least 4 hours, turning every half hour to marinate each side.
  6. 6
Drain marinade and grill steaks to desired doneness.
  7. 7
I double or triple this recipe for each addition package of steak. Any wild game steak can be used in this recipe.

Best marinade I have found for venison so far. I soaked my steaks in FF milk overnight while they were defrosting in the fridge. Then marinated according to directions but for a full day before cooking. The deer steaks were so good that I cooked my last batch the same way. THanks for the recipe. It's going in my recipe tin! Oh yeah, I omitted the canola oil-- used just a Tablespoon of olive oil instead.

this is extremely tender and could not tell it was venison. It does need alittle more flavor, maybe marinate longer but it was very tender which was impressive.

Excellent Excellent Excellent! Can you tell we loved it! Actually marinated the venison and then made kabobs with it. Mixed it in with the hawaiian chicken kabob recipe and it was wonderful. Ii was worried that venison might be tough as kabobs but not at all. Thanks for a Great marinade recipe. No one in my fam has ever marinated their venison in anything other than milk wow have they been missing out!
