By: Carol Evon

My family loves this meatloaf recipe; they beg me to make it. I needed to find a healthy recipe to serve my family because of high cholesterol and diabetes. It isn't dry, it's moist.

I used about 2 lbs. ground turkey and used 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal instead of break crumbs and 2 instead of 3 slices bacon, added salt, pepper, 1/4 tsp. cumin, pinch of garlic, 1/2 diced green bell pepper. With 10 min. of baking time left, I poured 1/4 to 1/2 cup bbq sauce over the loaf. Scrumptous soul food. Served with steamed cabbage and yellow rice instead of the usual mashed potatoes and green beans/peas.

I haven't tried this one yet but it is in a similar style to the one I made last night. BBQ Turkey Meatloaf - 5 Ingredients which also got great reviews. These are so tasty!

This meatloaf is so moist and full of flavor it blows traditional meatloaf out of the water. After my Mom brought home a couple of packages of ground turkey on special at the store it was my job to find something to to with it, and I'm so glad I found this recipe. I doubled it and added celery in addition to the onion, a shot of worcestershire, and used a mix of honey bbq and honey hickory bbq sauces. I topped it with some honey and a little sauce then left off the bacon. As I said it was very moist and flavorful, everyone enjoyed it and I for one couldn't wait for the sandwiches the leftovers would make the next day. Also it was great to see that there was very little shrinkage in the loaf due to the meat's reduced fat content. Thanks for the great recipe Carol, and thanks to the reviewers for their help in my choice to try this!
