The most fiendishly addictive snack mix I've ever had! You can pump up the red pepper if you like; I like it just like this, however. And, you can "mix up" the nuts a bit, but I like those salty Spanish peanuts and some almonds, perhaps even Smokehouse almonds. Make a big batch for your next party; you can't stop eating it!

9 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. 2
Combine tortilla chips, cereal, popcorn and nuts in a large roasting pan.
  3. 3
(Lining the pan with foil first helps the clean-up later--).
  4. 4
Combine corn syrup, butter, brown sugar, chili powder, cinnamon and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan and heat to boiling.
  5. 5
Pour over the cereal-popcorn mixture in the pan; stir to coat thoroughly.
  6. 6
Bake uncovered 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes.
  7. 7
Remove from oven and turn onto a sheet of waxed paper to cool.
  8. 8
will keep in an airtight container for about 2 weeks.

Excellent recipe! I made a giant batch of this for the Super Bowl party that I was attending and it was completely cleaned up. I can't thank you enough! I used: broken pretzel rods, goldfish (multi-colored), corn chex, broken tortilla chips, spanish peanuts, smokehouse almonds, popcorn, and a quadrupled batch of the glaze.

LOVE THIS. Definitely addictive! The sweet is like a light carmel corn and then the warmth hits. SO GOOD! Thanks so much for sharing.

Excellent! My kids like it and I love light sweet & spicy taste. I used lots of chex and pretzels - and leftover chips, etc - different every time. GREAT with raisins too.

This is the most amazing recipe for a delicious and different snack!! We all loved this and I will be making it again and again. I added some Cheerios to the mix, just because I had some and they were a great addition. I just bumped up the amount of the sauce and spice ingredients a bit to make up the difference. The unusual combination of cayenne, chili powder, butter sugar and cinnamon make for an unbelievably delicious mix. Wildly addicting?? Absolutley!! Thanks for posting a great recipe!!
