This simple side dish is a perfect match for steak. Goes perfectly with any meal that uses garlic (ie: awesome with Italian).Simple to make-great to take to a pot luck-classy enough for dinner parties!

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • fresh green beans, with ends trimmed-use amount appropriate for desired servings
  • butter (as a rule, 1 T per 2 servings of beans)
  • fresh garlic (minced/crushed amount varies-but as a rule, I use 1 large clove per 2 servings of beans)
  • olive oil, can be used instead of butter for vegetarian/vegans (or for those watching their waistlines! Use less oil than butter 2 t per 2 servings)

Directions

  1. 1
    Steam green beans until tender-crisp.
  2. 2
Melt butter in pot big enough to hold green beans.
  3. 3
Add garlic and heat until you can smell the garlic.
  4. 4
Remove pan from heat and add green beans to pot.
  5. 5
    Coat beans with butter/garlic.
  6. 6
Serve as a fabulous side dish.

This is a very flavorful side dish and is easy to prepare. I used canned green beans, drained, and 2 large cloves of garlic, minced, and sauteed it using the olive oil. This was delicious and so easy! Thank you for sharing your recipe TGirl,RN!

All I can say is YUM and easy!!! I loved these and I'm not a huge green bean fan. I found that I just kept picking at them even after I was finished eating. The kids wouldn't even try them because, well, they are green and they are beans! Who cares what they think, I thought they were great.

A very simple but great dish. I used the butter and after dishing onto plates I topped them with some tomato slices that I had pan fried in a lightly oiled non stick pan with a sprinkle of dried basil, freshly ground black pepper & a little salt. Served with browned sausages & small minted boiled potatoes. Thanks for posting a dish that will be a "keeper' for me
