I'm posting this as a reply to someone who was looking for tender pork chops without using a crockpot. I've had this recipe for so long, probably even before there WERE crockpots! (BTW - this can also be used in a crockpot.)

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Brown pork chops in frying pan. I like to sprinkle with seasoned salt, seasoned pepper and a small amount of garlic salt when browning.
  2. 2
Remove from pan and place in casserole dish.
  3. 3
Mix brown gravy mix, soup,& water.
  4. 4
Place potatoes& onion around pork chops; cover all with gravy mixture.
  5. 5
    Season with salt& pepper.
  6. 6
Bake covered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.

Yummy! Very good. I followed the recipe as written. I seasoned the chops with seasoning salt and pepper. I put the onion, soup, gravy packet and water in the pan I cooked the chops in and cooked it a few minutes scrapping up the bits left from the chops. I then poured the mixture over the chops. I used 6 chops as that is how I have them frozen and their was still plenty of gravy. I used a can of sliced potatoes and I had a bag of shredded carrots I needed to use up so threw them in the dish also. I cooked mine for about 45 minutes and they were perfect. Everyone cleaned their plates.

While it was very easy to make, we were less than thrilled with the outcome of the pork chops. The gravy was a little too strong and it wasn't the greatest in flavor. It did however, give an excellent flavor to the potatoes.

OMG, this is a neat little supper dish! The chops just fell apart...soooo tender! I didn't have gravy mix, so I made up brown gravy with beef base and a little flour. Worked out fine. I did this in the oven, but next time, I wanna try the crockpot...Bet it'll be great! Thanks for sharing, Claudia...Tis a keeper for sure!

I made this yesterday, It was so tender and delish. I did make a few changes, I used my gravy from: Denise's fat free brown gravy, I used the cream of mushroom soup, but with only 1/2 can of water, and poured over the chops, I left out the onions and potatoes, I did cover the dish with foil to cook and I served Garlic Mashed potatoes and veggies and stuffed mushrooms on the side. This is a keeper, very very good, lots of flavor
