Tater Tots Casserole

Recipe #27117 | 55 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: aearley
May 3, 2002

I got this recipe from a casserole cookbook. The original recipe does not call for onions, but I find that the onions are a great addition. I usually add the onions to the ground beef and cook both together in the same skillet.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2
    Brown ground beef.
  3. 3
    Saute onion.
  4. 4
In a casserole dish, combine ground beef, sauteed onion, cream of celery soup.
  5. 5
    Top mixture with tater tots.
  6. 6
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over top of tater tots.
  7. 7
Bake in oven for 30-40 minutes.

very good!! cheap, easy to make and very tasty! I made a few minor adjustments..used cream of chicken instead of celery, also added sm amount of chili powder to the beef while i was browning it..we like things spicy and i ended up layer the tots..put a layer down, then the meat, then a top layer of tots..turned out great!! sent some of it with my sister as she went back to college

Surprisingly delicious! I wasn't too sure what to expect from this simple recipe but the result was tasty, filling, yummy! I added a teaspoon of garlic salt to the meat, 2 stalks of chopped celery to the chopped onion (which I sauteed in olive oil) and I added a few spoonfuls of milk to the soup. I baked the whole shibang in my 9X9 square Pyrex baking dish and it came out perfect!. We'll definately make this again.

This one is aimed right for your meat and potato eaters. Sometimes you just need something easy without worrying about whether the recipe would ever grace the pages of a cooking magazine. This was easy, and it pleased everyone. That made it a winner for me.
