Tater Tot Casserole

I am a stay at home mom now, but not always, and this is a favorite that my whole family loves. I learned how to make this right after I first got married 11 years ago and my husband loved it then and my daughters love it now. I got this recipe from an old church cookbook that I still have and this is a favorite that we have a couple times a month.

SERVES 4 -6 , 1 casserole dish (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (2 lb) bag frozen tater tots

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 (8 ounce) can cheddar cheese soup
  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/2 (4 ounce) can milk
  • 8 ounces shredded cheese

Directions

  1. 1
    preheat oven to 350.
  2. 2
    brown and drain hamburger meat.
  3. 3
    Line a casserole dish with frozen tater tots.
  4. 4
    pour hamburger over the tater tots.
  5. 5
    in a sauce pan mix soup, butter and milk till everything is mixed.
  6. 6
    pour soup mixture over hamburger.
  7. 7
    top with tater tots.
  8. 8
    cook in oven till tater tots are cooked (check the center).

    top with shredded cheese and put in oven till melted.
  10. 10
    remove and serve Hot.

This is a good recipe, even my picky 2 year old loves it. I added some garlic and black pepper, and I also sauteed some onion with the beef. When I make this for breakfast, I leave out the beef and put cooked ham, bacon or sliced sausage in its place. Very good all ways.

    I substituted grd turkey, but kept the rest of this recipe as is. We really liked it, and I plan to make it, again.
