These are delicious! I omitted the allspice (didn't have any) and the ground ginger (too lazy to find it). A perfect balance of sweet and spicy!

I'm giving this recipe 5 stars even though the turnips were a bit bitter (I'm pretty sure I used too much allspice.) Thank you for a new, yummy idea for turnips, we love them in our family.

Loved 'em. I also through in some carrots since one of my turnips wasn't good and I was afraid I wouldn't have enough. The carrots tasted every bit as good as the turnips.

This was my first time ever making/eating turnips. I followed the ingredients exactly, but I did not follow the cooking method as I did not have the oven available. The flavor was wonderful, especially not really knowing what to expect a turnip to taste like. They were just sweet enough and just spicy enough. I actually pan fried them on top of the stove. I cut the turnips into smaller pieces, melted butter, added the turnips and the brown sugar and then the rest of the ingredients. I covered the pan for a bit to help them cook, and they turned out a beautiful golden brown on the outside, almost like home fried potatoes, and just cooked them till tender. I will definitely try turnips again, and will definitely make this recipe again, using the oven method suggested. If you're afraid to try turnips, don't be with this recipe..you will love them. Thanks for turning me into a turnip lover!
