This was pretty good, definitely didn't burn the tummy like most chilis do. My dad didn't care much for it, because he likes traditional chili. I thought this would be a nice compromise since mom doesn't like spicey foods. Haha! Ah, well, it was a good little meal with a spinach salad and a side of strawberries. Thanks for the opportunity to try something unique!

I didn't have a dutch oven so I just cooked the ground beef in a skillet. I had trouble getting the onions to saute without burning the meat. I would suggest cooking them up separately at the same time the ground beef is cooking. Otherwise, this was pretty simple to make and did taste good. I give it 3 stars because I 'like it'. I just don't think sweet chili is for me. I might try it again though without adding the sugar. If you really like a spicy chili you'll need to add some additional spice. It wasn't hot at all, and it isn't supposed to be. It's a great recipe to make for kids.

5 BIG STARS....DH is a true Chili Head and I am more of a Pecid kinda gal. I fixed this exactly as given and just put it in front of him. He gave it a fine compliment...some people just back up on the chili powder and cumin, leaving it bland and tasteless. This sweet chili is just that sweet chili with good full flavor. I resisted the temptation to adjust the meat to 1C beef and 1/2 cup italian sausage, I didn't want to make it too much of a "pasta sauce with beans"....it's perfect as it is. Tempted two friends that are of the "bland chili" sort, and they loved it, they liked the italian side of the recipe. Great recipe. Thanks for posting

I'm not a chili fan at all. I've probably made chili only twice in my life. I had to try this chili since it is a sweet rather than spicy chili. This chili is fantastic! I had my serving as soon as the 1 1/2 hours simmering time was over and the flavors were outstanding. I cooked up some small pasta called ditalini and served my chili over that for a chili-mac meal. I followed the recipe except for using only 1 can of kidney beans and I used the 3 cloves of garlic that other reviewers recommended. As soon as I can find a chili contest, I'm going to enter with this chili!
