These little cookies are great for using up old bread. They're so elegant to serve with coffee and nobody will know that they're made up of stale bread you might have thrown out otherwise and the ingredients are stuff usually found in the pantry. (If you're out of sweetened condensed milk, see my diabetic cookbook or my do a quick search for a recipe for making it at home.)
