Super Bowl Chili

I created this recipe over 20 years ago and still get request to make it for family and church get togethers ever few months. It's the easiest and least expensive chili you will ever make, and you will always get rave reviews. The recipe can easily be doubled and tripled.

SERVES 8 , 1 gallon (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Brown the ground beef, onions and peppers together.
  2. 2
    Drain.
  3. 3
    Slowly add the chili mix packets, drained beans and the tomato juice while stirring.
  4. 4
    Cover loosely and let simmer for 1 hour.
  5. 5
    Be very careful to stir the entire pot so the bottom layer doesn't burn.
  6. 6
    During the last 15 minutes of cooking add the Tabasco and garlic to taste.
  7. 7
    At the very end, stir in part or all of the cocoa powder.

So easy to make. Pretty much a standard chili recipe. Did it without the unsweetened cocoa, but I kicked it up with then tabasco. (Just my preference.) Makes lots of servings for leftovers

    my first time making chili and this recipe was very easy to follow. I ended up adding one hot red pepper along with some diced tomatoes for more texure. everyone seemed to enjoy
