Shortcut is the name of the game when making and taking this dessert to a picnic, potluck or church social, where it will be the center of attention!

SERVES 25 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 inch)  one layer chocolate cake

  • 1 (16 ounce) can chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 15 individual Little Debbie Boston cream rolls

Directions

  1. 1
    Make a chocolate layer cake from your favorite mix or recipe. Use 8" round pans.
  2. 2
    Place one layer of cooled chocolate cake in center of 16" pizza pan or platter. You can freeze the other layer for a future use.

    Frost with 1 can of chocolate icing.
  4. 4
    Arrange chocolate chips on top only of cake to resemble sunflower seeds.
  5. 5
    Unwrap Boston Creme cakes and arrange around chocolate cake.
  6. 6
    Note: Preparation time does not include making and baking a layer cake.

    How easy this was, and looked grand on the table at the potluck. Was in hurry didn't have much time, so this was perfect. Thanx for posting.

    Very cute cake that was so simple. I realize that this isn't a culinary masterpiece, but it has definite eye-appeal. I prepared it for sharing at the local community center, but think that it would be an excellent addition to a cookout or casual shower. The most time consuming part for me was locating the Little Debbie treats! LOL
