Good way to enjoy strawberries; I was looking for something different than shortcake, and this had the essentials (pastry, berries, whipped cream) with a nicely different presentation and texture.

I made this pie exactly as written and the flavour was great. The next time I make this pie I will add crushed strawberries to the sugar/corn starch mixture as others have as the pale mixture was not very appetizing. I topped it with Devon cream to "hide" the sugar mixture.

Delicious! I chose this recipe because all the others I looked at called for Jello and I didn't have any. Am I glad I picked this one! It's wonderful. Easy and tasty and made with ingredients that you don't have to run out to the store to get. I added about a teaspoon of lemon juice and 3 drops of red food coloring to the glaze after it was done cooking. I used 2 pints of sliced strawberries and I tossed the berries in the glaze before pouring into my pie shell. My whole family loved it! Thank you!

This recipe is listed in my family cookbook as "President Eisenhower's Favorite Strawberry Pie". A former boyfriend LOVED it and often asked me to make it for him. It's easy to make and definitely a winner! I'd like to add that my recipe calls for 1 and a half quarts of fresh strawberries. Half (the nice looking ones) are reserved and the rest are mashed. The mashed strawberries are cooked with the sugar and cornstarch. Once thickened and clear, one Tablespoon of lemon juice can be added if desired. After the mixture has cooled, I add the remaining whole berries.
