Stew Meat

Recipe #112813 | 3¼ hours | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Harried Mom
Mar 7, 2005

I got this recipe from my Mom. Now all my siblings and I use this recipe when we want something easy and delicious. The meat comes out melt-in-your-mouth tender cooked in its own gravy.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef stew meat (already cut up)

  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can French onion soup (undiluted)

  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)

Directions

  1. 1
Mix together french onion and cream of mushroom soups in a 2 1/2 qt casserole dish.
  2. 2
Add stew meat raw, making sure that all the meat is covered by the soup (it browns and cooks in the oven with the soups).
  3. 3
Cover and place in 350 degree oven for 3 hours.
  4. 4
Serve over steamed rice or noodles with a salad.
  5. 5
This recipe doubles or triples easily (just add one can of either soup per extra pound of meat).
  6. 6
I usually make extra and freeze it for another night.

Easy to make and had a good flavor. I served it over noodles with a salad and rolls.

This was so easy to make. The meat literaly melts in your mouth, it is so tender! We put it over rice. It was a hit!

Very easy and tasty. I served it with mashed potatoes and had plenty of yummy gravy to top the potatoes. Thanks for this easy recipe!

Did this one in a slow cooker instead of an oven, put it on high till it boiled then moved it to low-able to forget about it all day!!! We put it on at 11 and forgot about it till 5. Turned the cooker off and dinner was served! It was great!
