Steak and Kidney Pie - Gary Rhodes #174588

A traditional British classic, however I substitute mushrooms for the kidneys due to the level of cholesterol in organ meats. You could actually use any type of mushroom for this recipe. Sometimes I add peas into this as well. It seems like a lot of work because I have broken down the steps involved but it’s actually very simple and so delicious! You can't go wrong. This can also be made for OAMC, but I like to freeze just the meat mixture before baking it and top with the puff pastry on the day and then bake it. NOTE: There are several different names for steak depending on your country; I use braising steak here in the UK, similar to round steak (a slow cooking steak), however 'braising steak' is not a recognised name on this site. Beef roast does NOT work well in this recipe.
