These are just heavenly!

10 pancakes (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a small bowl, combine milk, egg and butter; whisk until blended.
  2. 2
In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda and salt; mix well.
  3. 3
Add milk mixture; whisk just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  4. 4
(Batter will be slightly lumpy.) Heat griddle over medium heat until hot.
  5. 5
(Drops of water will sizzle, then evaporate.) For each pancake, pour scant 1/4 cup batter into griddle.
  6. 6
Cook 1-2 minutes or until batter is set around edges.
  7. 7
Carefully turn over pancake; cook 1-2 minutes or until pancakes are cooked through.
  8. 8
    Repeat with remaining batter.
  9. 9
Sprinkle pancakes with powdered sugar; serve warm with desired toppings.
  10. 10
(I use a star shaped mold, placed on grill. You must spray mold with vegetable oil) Try using metal star shaped cookie cutters!

Loved the taste! I would have liked them fluffier, so next time I'll add more flour and some baking powder too. Had them with sour plum jam, but these pancakes need whipping cream. I just saw that another reviewer praised them for being fluffy, so maybe I did something wrong.

These turned out aweswome! My son picked these for a birthday breakfast. I was so glad he did! We topped them with powdered sugar and lite whipped cream. They were so yummy! Thanks for a great recipe!

I liked these as long as they were topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips. They would have been even better with fresh strawberries and bananas, but I didn't have any on hand. In order for me to LOVE a pancake recipe though they have to taste great all by themselves, and I didn't like these very well plain. I think if I had mixed in some mini chocolate chips like some of the other reviewers did they would have been much better plain. But....I was trying not to add too much extra fat & calories, so I was hoping they'd be good all by themselves. All in all a good Saturday brunch, but next time I will be sure to have the strawberries and bananas to top them with!
