I like making soups in a crockpot, this one turns out wonderful.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cook on high to get it hot, if you have time, then lower the heat setting to low and cook 8 hours.
  2. 2
Don't fill the crock pot too full, due to foaming.
  3. 3
Stir, adjust the seasonings and serve.
  4. 4
If you like the soup creamy, take out 1/2 c. of the soup and puree in food processor, then blend back into the soup.
  5. 5
    Serve

The soup is very runny. But the taste is great. I used Chicken bacon. This is very easy to do. Thanks Dancer. Made for Holiday tag

Next time I would try 4-5 cups liquid or cook on the stovetop with 6-8 cups and simmer it away a bit. That would thicken the soup and intensify the flavor. I'd also add a bay leaf or two.

I love to make crockpot meals if I can during the week. This was good and so easy to put together. The only thing I added were some mashed potatoes at the end, it was just a tad bit runny for our taste. Otherwise will be making this again.

Fantastic soup, tastes just like mom used to make. Very easy to make. I did boil the peas on the stove for a few minutes first then threw everything in the crockpot, I didn't have any problem with foaming at all.
