Special Strawberry Dessert

Recipe #289456 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

Strawberries are one of my favorite fruit and the sweetness of brown sugar paired with the sour creaminess of sour cream make a perfect and simple combination. I used to eat this all the time as a child, although now I'd have to substitute dairy-free sour cream (Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream) for regular or light sour cream. There's really no way for me to know the amounts of ingredients, as they will depend on your particular tastes.

SERVES 2 -3 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 pint of fresh strawberry (washed and hulled)
  • 8 ounces sour cream (light, regular, or non-dairy Toffutti Better Than Sour Cream)
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Directions

  1. 1
    Dip strawberries in sour cream.
  2. 2
    Roll in brown sugar. Yum!

I used to enjoy this with my Grandmother when I was a young girl. It always made me feel special that we shared this "elegant" dessert together. Thank you for the smile today. I am going to pass the tradition on with my own Granddaughters now.

Very interesting! I tagged this because I would never think to put brown sugar together with sour cream yet it turned out great! DH tastes with his eyes, so refused to try it, but more for me! Note to self: let strawberries come to room temp first.... isn't so cold on teeth that way!

This was very good and refreshing! I used light sour cream. The brown sugar really added a lot, it was sweeter than I expected, which I liked. Thanks for a great, easy treat!

This is an awesome recipe! I have always enjoyed dipping strawberries in sugar, but never thought of brown sugar. The sour cream is a nice addition as well. Like kiwidutch says, it does balance the taste. I can't wait to try this recipe when the strawberries are in season here. So good. Thanks for sharing.
