Soft and Chewy M&m Cookies

Recipe #49591 | 20 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Manda
Dec 22, 2002

This cookie is BY FAR my family's favorite cookie that always disappears first on the Christmas cookie tray! They are very simple, but kids and adults alike love this chewy, chocolaty cookie. I usually double the recipe, which will use one 12 oz. bag of M&M's. You can make these festive by using holiday M&Ms, which I love to do at Easter and Christmas

Perfect for milk dipping. I did make the 2 batches and it's quite a bit of cookies..but they aren't lasting to long as it is..

I made these for a Hallowe'en party (using only fall colours, of course) and they were generally well-received. I substituted unsalted butter for the shortening and cut back the white sugar a little. I followed the directions and added 1/2 c. of candy (plus a couple on top), but it wasn't enough, so next time I'll try 3/4 c. Thanks for sharing!

I was disappointed as the cookies turned out crispy instead of soft and chewy. I followed the recipe exactly. ?? Also taste too "crisco-y" for our liking.

These turn out soft and chewy and the dough is very easy to work with. The first batch I made at Cristmas didn't even make to the cookie tray!- these are my kids (21,20 & 17) FAVORITE cookies.
