This recipe isn't meant to "replace" oven-baked lasagna. However, it is a convenient tasty meal to come home to on a busy workday as well as weekends.

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  2. 2
Add the tomato sauce, water, tomato paste, salt and oregano; mix well.
  3. 3
Spread a fourth of the meat sauce in an ungreased 5-quart slow cooker. Arrange a third of the noodles over sauce (break the noodles if necessary).
  4. 4
Combine the cheeses; spoon a third of the mixture over noodles. Repeat layers twice.
  5. 5
    Top with remaining meat sauce.
  6. 6
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until noodles are tender.

Just a comment since I didn't make this. Next time double the recipe. Fix one for today and freeze the second portion for later. You can assemble this in an ice cream plastic bucket container and freeze it. When you are ready to serve it, run water over the bucket and it will fit into your slow cooker perfectly.

This is a great find. I didn't need to heat up the kitchen but was able to have a nice hot meal that my family really enjoyed. We had enough to feed my family of 6 and freeze some for lunches.

The noodles tasted very different to me (I believe because we used a different brand than we normally do). Other than that it was great. I think I will try again with our normal brand of noodles! It also seemed a little runny, may omit some of the water as well.

Holy Moley!! This is absolutely incredible! Easy to prepare, and good enough for company. Next time I'll serve it with some garlic bread, though, so I can have something to clean the sauce off my plate with. I was a bit hesitant to make lasagna in a crock pot, but boy, was I wrong. Thanks for a great recipe!
