I love finding different ways to make cabbage. This would be a good way to use up leftover ham. Recipe is from Family Circle.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. 2
Add cabbage and carrot and cook, covered, for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3
Stir in wine and simmer for 1 minute.
  4. 4
Add ham, apple, vinegar, caraway, salt and pepper.
  5. 5
Simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes, uncovered, stirring, until cabbage and apples are tender and most of the liquid has cooked off.
  6. 6
Cover and let stand a few minutes before serving.

Found this recipe to be just okay. Didn't have caraway seeds, so left them out and added onions with the cabbage. Just didn't think it was too flavorful.

This recipe was included in Taste Tester's FAVORITE REVIEWED RECIPES OF 2008. June 2, 2008 — Absolutely delicious! The sauteed apples gave a sweet flavor to the dish that my son loved. I especially liked the tangy flavor the vinegar provided. This is a terrific meal filled with great flavor and a heaping serving of vegetables as well. Oh, I did add a little sliced onions which I fried up with the cabbage. Thanks for posting this winner, Lainey!
