The spices meld and marry in the mix, so don't be put off by the unusual ingredients! A very good cookie: I did act on the warnings of others and added 1/3 cup buttermilk to the mix. The result was a moister cookie, but not cake-like that went very quickly from a plate at work

We enjoyed the taste of these very much. I'm a firm believer in putting a lot of spices in oatmeal cookies, and this recipe definitely fits the bill as far as the taste department goes. The cumin is a great idea, marrying nicely with the other spices. I probably never would have had the courage to try these, but there's a peanut butter cookie recipe here that calls for cayenne pepper and they are just scrumptious, so I knew I had to try these. All of this being said, I can only give this recipe three stars because of their dry and crumbly texture. I'll work with this and see if I can't make a less dry and crumbly cookie. Thank you for posting!

I adore the spice mix... the subtle hot of the ginger and cayenne and the gentle yummy surprise of the cumin. However, texture was a huge issue... the raw dough doesn't hold together even after I hand rolled it into balls, and some of the cookies are very crumbly. An excellent recipe in theory but needs tweaking.

Excellent cookies!! I was slightly skeptical due to the cumin, which I enjoy but know some people don't care for at all, and was wonderfully surprised...yummy! Just a note for people who are concerned about texture (cake-like as opposed to crispyish) these were in-between to me. Just plain delicious. Thanks for sharing.
