I've been trying to get myself off coffee and fizzy drinks, and this seems to be the perfect solution for me. I'm posting the recipe as sugar-free, because that's how I like it (and this is MY recipe, after all), but feel free to mess it up as much as you like.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Pour the water into an appropriate pitcher or empty bottle.
  2. 2
    Add the two tea bags.
  3. 3
Let steep for at least two hours or overnight in the fridge.

This is AMAZING and SO EASY... I like a stronger flavored tea, so I use 3 tea bags and let it steep in the fridge overnight, and it is SO GOOD and REFRESHING! I like the taste much better than the tea made with my Iced Tea Maker... and it uses less tea bags so it's a money saver. Any flavor of herbal tea is great, but my favorites are Blueberry, Mint, and Raspberry. YUM!!!

Brilliantly simple and easy, I don't know why I didn't think of brewing this way, always thought it had to be hot first. The only tea I had that I can really safely drink (I have IBS) is Peppermint or Eater's Digest, both by Traditional Medicinals. I tried this w/just one tea bag of Eater's Digest in a .5 liter sized water bottle. I steeped for about 2 hours, pulled out the bag, squeezing it a bit. It's very refreshing in this hot weather I live in, though normally, it's not safe on IBS-tummies to drink super-cold drinks. I still enjoyed it, nice change from hot. Thank you Mirj. Just an update; I had this twice the first week I tried it and hadn't had it since. Suddenly I have been craving this every day, I've had it three times now in two days, and I made up another water bottle. Then realized that wasn't gonna be enough so I grabbed my 2 liter water bottle, and started a couple bags steeping so I have enough to last a day or so, lol. Now, I'm almost out of tea bags! ADDICTIVE tea!
