Quick Silver cleaner - from Homebasics Fall 2004

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 liter hot water
  • 1 tablespoon fabric softener
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 sheet aluminum foil

Directions

  1. 1
    Run 1 litre of hot water into sink.
  2. 2
    Dissolve 1 tbsp of fabric softener and 1 tbsp salt in the water.
  3. 3
    Place aluminum foil on the bottom of the sink.
  4. 4
    Place tarnished silver on the foil.
  5. 5
    Make sure silver is completely immersed.
  6. 6
    Silver will come clean in 10 seconds.

    You must make sure and rinse the silver completely after immersion in this solution with fresh water as the salt may pit it.

    I just tried this before going to work. I literally had about enough time to get it mixed and let it sit the 10 seconds. LOL I had excellent results!!! I rinsed really well as the other reviewer stated that salt can pit the silver. Thanks so much for posting this!
