Sheila's Smoked Tuna Dip

Recipe #27670 | 1 hour | 1 hour prep | add private note

This is a Great Seafood Appetizer. It is easy and cheap to make but taste like a million. I assure you it is a crowd pleaser.

SERVES 3 -6 , 1 1/2 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Drain tuna of as much excess liquid as you can.
  2. 2
You may use the new tuna in a pouch if you desire.
  3. 3
Once tuna is drained, place in bowl, add liquid smoke and mix well.
  4. 4
Cover container and let set 30 minutes to overnight.
  5. 5
The longer it sets the better it will absorb the smoke flavor.
  6. 6
Remove tuna from fridge and add Mrs.Dash, mix well.
  7. 7
Next add mayo 1 tablespoon at a time until you achieve the desired consistency.
  8. 8
Since this is meant to be eaten with crackers you want to keep it thick but creamy. (I usually use about 5 tablespoons).
  9. 9
You can also add chopped boiled eggs and extra mayo to this recipe to create an interesting tuna salad for sandwiches.

SO SO SO GOOD! Used albacore in water, so drained, put all in food processor with extra virgin olive oil (as recipe calls for tuna in oil, probably for texture), used Tony Chachere's (it's a staple for me) instead of Mrs. Dash, blended til smooth, and served it with Kashi crackers and ALL of my guests just ate it up!! Reminds me of what I get at my favorite seafood market in Destin, Florida! Thank you! I will be making this FOREVER!

Great recipe, I used smoked tuna in a pouch, so I only used 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke. So very easy.

I too am a huge fan of this dip. I had it for the first time at The Back Porch restaurant in Destin, FL. I have since been trying to find a comparable recipe. I recently made this for a party and friends say it's even better than what we had in Destin. I used the tuna pouches (smoked and lemon pepper flavored) and I also reduced the amound of liquid smoke flavor. I squeeze fresh lemon and lime over before serving. I think it's a matter of personal preference. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Very good! I made this for my family 4th of July gathering, even the children liked it. I added 4 oz. of cream cheese, made it nice and creamy. Thanks for a great recipe!
