Semolina Bread

Recipe #31803 | 3¼ hours | 7 min prep | add private note

By: Bunsby
Jun 20, 2002

From "The Bread Machine Cookbook II" by Donna Rathmell German. This is the only bread my children will let me make. I've only given a 1 1/2 pound loaf recipe because the bread raises quite high.

1 Loaf (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Place the above ingredients into your bread machine pan in order given.
  2. 2
Set machine to make a 1 1/2 pound loaf.
  3. 3
Take out of machine as soon as it is done.

I prepared the dough in the bread machine and baked it in the oven and it made a nice loaf.

I have the book with this recipe and I have been making it for years. I like the texture. Great with pasta. I usually use the dough cycle and bake it in my oven. Spray the oven inside with water for a crispy crust.

I made the recipe exactly as stated. I have to admit that I wondered if the dough was going to be too dry and it looked a little that way at first. But I waited another 5 minutes and the dough came together well. No bricks in the bottom of the pan! This bread is a plain bread, nothing fancy. My toddler ate it happily [instant extra star!]. It rose well, has a good texture and is easy to cut.
