Scalloped Potatoes

Wow, is this ever a family favorite.

SERVES 8 -10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Fry bacon until crisp and drain well on paper towels.
  2. 2
    Discard all but 1T bacon grease; saute onions in bacon grease and drain well Slice potatoes thinly.
  3. 3
    Butter a 13x9 casserole dish; layer potatoes, bacon, onion mixture and finish with more potatoes.

    Mix sour cream, cheese, and mushroom soup; pour mixture over top of potatoes.
  5. 5
    Cover with foil; bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours; uncover for the last 20 minutes.

    these are very yummy! It's hot here so I try not to use the oven unless necessary, so i made these on the stove. I par-boiled the sliced potatoes, drained them, then added in all of the other ingredients and finished cooking. I love how forgiving the recipe is, you can add as much or as little potatoes as you want depending on how creamy you want the dish to turn out. a keeper!

    The BEST!!! The only way to make scalloped potatoes as far as we are concerned. Deserves more than 5-stars. This produced a sumptuous creamy cheese sauce and the bacon-onion add WOW for flavor. The potatoes turned out very tender. Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe.

    This was awesome!! I posted a picture of it prior to cooking. Only thing I did wrong was cook it in a smaller, deeper casserole dish. Takes too long to cook, next time I have to use 13 x 9 that was suggested.
