Posted for ZWT II 2006- Sweden. Recipe is Tina Nordstrom's as given on a website. This is a great side to your Christmas Ham.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

    Slice the cabbage thinly and saute over medium high heat together with the onion for a couple of minutes.
  2. 2
    Mix the Apple juice, balsamic vinegar, cinnamon sticks, and syrup or honey. Cover and let simmer until the cabbage softens. This will take about 15 minutes.

The balsamic vinegar makes this one so distinct from the typical red cabbage side dish. Loved the tangy flavor here. I did use a bit less honey than suggested as I tend more towards savory than sweet.

    I agree with the previous two reviews. I like this recipe. I cooked this for ZWT II, and just ate it straight. I think the flavors will shine even more if served with ham or pork. Overall a solid side dish recipe with some nice interest to it! Thanks Charbear!

    This was pretty good! After letting it simmer for 15 minutes, it was very liuqidly so I drained it just before we ate and it still had lots of flavor to it! I also didn't have an onion so I just left it out.My dad made a great suggestion saying we should add chopped apples to it which I think would add extra flavor to it! Thanks for the recipe Chabear91!
