Sausage and Bow Ties

Recipe #118362 | 30 min | 10 min prep | add private note

This is a good pasta recipe that can be whipped up quickly on those busy nights when the kids have activities. When I have more time, I use fresh chopped tomatoes. The sausage is easier to slice if you stick it in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes to firm it up a bit. Cook time includes pasta cooking time.

SERVES 4 -6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cook bowtie pasta according to package directions; drain- do NOT rinse.
  2. 2
Meanwhile, in a large skillet over med-high heat, brown sausage; drain if necessary.
  3. 3
Turn heat down to medium. Add oil, garlic, onion, green pepper, tomatoes and oregano to skillet with sausage and sautee and stir for about 5 minutes. Stir in cooked hot pasta and toss around to coat and heat through.
  4. 4
Sprinkle with shredded cheese and serve.

I made this recipe on 6/13/09 for the " Hot, Spicy, & Tasty " event, and also for mine and SO's dinner.Since there was just us two the recipe was cut in half. I did have to make a couple of changes due to what I had on hand. They were as follows, instead of the italian sausage, smoked was used. And I had a can of diced tomatoes that already had onions and peppers in it. Other than those changes the recipe was made as it was written. My SO and both thought it was "just o.k. " . But, I will say that it was a very quick and easy recipe to throw together. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling "

Superb for such quick meal. I added fresh basil and extra garlic. I also stirred in cheese to combine the flavors well. For ZWT.

This is really good!! I did make a couple of changes tho, using yellow pepper instead of green just because of preference and I didn't have the sweet Italian sausage on hand, but breakfast links, which I cooked up and used and it was really good! I wasn't sure if I was to drain the tomatoes or not, but didn't and glad of that! My husband just kept saying how much he loved the flavor and said he'd like it in the meal rotation, so thank you Parsley, for a tasty addition!

Very good, quick and easy. I scaled by 1/2, used fresh roma's and a 1 lb tube of Jimmy Dean Italian sausage. Didn't use the green pepper as I didn't have it. Also didn't use the olive oil, just left a bit of the sausage grease. I replaced the parmesan with just a sprinkle mozzarella, as that is all I had. When I make it with can tomatoes I will drain them. Thanks for posting!
