In my never-ending quest to figure out what to do with that bottle of burgundy wine I opened. (I only used 1/2 cup of it in a previous recipe) I found this recipe for Sangrias. Now what do I do with the rest of the orange liqueur? I see another mission in my future.

I planned this for a Cousin's Tapas Party, July 2, 2009, at my house. It was for my cousins and their famlies. (We are a big family bunch.) I admit my "brain" was on food that day when everone arrived. My DS-in-law asked about the Sangria and offered to make it, if I had a recipe. I flipped him yours. (My mind was still on "food".) He took your recipe and my bottle of Chablis and a bottle of Merlot and made a pitcher of each. Some "loved" the white and some "loved" the red. All wanted the recipe. Me? Thank you. Your recipe was a "great" success and helped to make my Cousin's Tapas a great success. Thank you.

This is perfect for a lazy summer night on the balony! I used a red wine that I didn't like the taste of on its own - a red zinfandel - and used triple sec for the liquor. It came out perfect! A nice combination of citrus and sweet and wine flavors.

I made 2 pitchers of this. One as the recipe reads and 1 with Chablis for a white sangria. They were to die for! People were looking at me funny when I said that I was making sangria until they tasted it! Great for parties - especially during the summer when you are sitting out on the deck. I will make it again!

DH's and my favorite Mexican restaurant serves a delcious sangria. I have been on a mission to find a recipe that sort of resembles it. This is a very close match. I made mine in a glass pitcher and added the fruit slices. Looked real pretty and tasted fantastic. The perfect drink to go along with fajitas, quesadillas, and my dad's chimichangas. Ole!!!
